As it was informed by РБК daily, the world largest debit payment system PayPal is consulting with the Russian cellular operators. The company is considering now the possibility of usage personal accounts of subscribers for making payments. If the companies agree, PayPal will enter the Russian market.
PayPal is one of the world largest payment system in the, which is working in more than 150 countries. It allows everybody to pay for service of the largest Internet services in the world, and also for different purchases through the world-famous Internet portal eBay (since 2002 PayPal is its subsidiary company. PayPal service allows everybody to choose the most convenient way to pay, including using credit card accounts, bank accounts, buyer credit or funds balances in the account, without sharing financial information.
PayPal comes to Russia
Now the major players in the market of electronic payments are Yandex.Money and WebMoney. According to the association “Electronic Money”, in 2009 these payment systems occupied over 90% of Russian electronic payments. PayPal is mainly known as a payment system for purchases on the U.S. site eBay, but this may be not enough for operation with the mass audience in Russia.
