New iMac is equipped exclusively by 4-core processors. New cameras FaceTime HD and support for Thunderbolt technology appeared in computers.

Apple updated the iMac line of computers in format “all in one”, equipping them with 4-core processors of a new generation, a new graphics engine, high definition video support and other innovations.

The new iMac models show speed increase up to 70% and, thanks to the new schedule, the performance boost of up to 3 times compared with the computers of previous generation.

“Our users really like the stylish aluminum case of iMac, great screen and excellent design “all in one” – said Philip Schiller, senior vice president of global marketing at Apple. – Thanks to a new generation of 4-core processors, new graphics, technology Thunderbolt and camera FaceTime HD, we did the best desktop in the world , even better . ”

The new iMac includes a 4-core processors Intel Core i5 with a choice of Core i7 processors with speed up to 3.4 GHz. A new generation of chips is equipped with an integrated memory controller and built-in video processor. In addition, iMac comes with new graphics processors AMD Radeon HD 6750M, 6770M or 6970M with a storage capacity of up to 1 GB.

iMac  is the first desktop computer in the market, which includes a new technology I / O Thunderbolt. iMac  in modification with a screen diagonal 21.5 inches has one port Thunderbolt, while 27-inch model is equipped with two ports.

Thunderbolt technology, developed by Intel in collaboration with Apple, offers data transfer rate up to 10 Gbps, providing direct access to peripheral devices, including arrays of RAID, PCI Express. It can support user devices connecting to FireWire and USB, and also connection Gigabit Ethernet adapter. What is more, Thunderbolt works with existing interfaces HDMI, DVI and VGA and supports DisplayPort for connecting high-resolution displays.
