Taking into consideration the terrible events that happened in Japan, the Organization of The Public Interest Registry (PIR), which administers the domain ORG, announced the automatic re-registration of domain names .ORG, registered by residents and organizations in Japan.
Together with the PIR more than 17 registrars undertook to automatically renew domain names for free in situation, when the owners of the domain .ORG have no possibility to do it themselves. Under the free automatic registration fall the domain names, date of re-registration of which falls in March-June 2011.
General Director of PIR Brian Kyut expressed his support for the Japanese: “We help domain owners . ORG in Japan not to lose them, especially in such hard time for them, when they and their country should focus on rebuilding. The purpose of the organization PIR and our partners is to assist, wherever it is needed. “
