December 19 Saint Sophia Cathedral will turn into a magical world of children’s handmade craftsmanship and the center of the celebration of the Day of St. Nicholas in Kiev.

Opening ceremony of St. Nicholas in Kiev will be held at St. Nicholas Day, December 19, at 13:00 in the National Reserve “Sophia of Kyiv”. There will be opened Residence of St. Nicholas, will operate several exhibition halls, ice cafe and a children’s railway.
Residence of St. Nicholas – a special premises where the holy will take all comers children and encourage them to do good deeds throughout the year. In addition, the residence will conduct master classes for pupils famous people of Ukraine and craftsmen, and even year-round work rooms, a museum for exhibiting artistic achievements of children and adults.
The Organizing Committee of the artistic project Folk Ukraine invites everyone to take part in competitions of the festival: “New Year Toy”, “Christmas tree for St. Nicholas,” “Gingerbread House”.
In the National Reserve “Sophia of Kyiv” will be a real carnival of New Year trees. All 10 districts of the capital will present New Year tree . Each of them in a special way will be decorated by children from these areas.

On December 21 Sophia Square will host a charity “Race of St. Nicholas.” Part of the funds raised will be directed to help children who have lost their breadwinner during the hostilities in the ATO. Distance for adults – 5 kilometers (route will run from St. Sophia on Artema street to Lviv Square in two rounds). Distance for kids – 500 meters. During the “Running of St. Nicholas” will be set a record of Ukraine: most mass race in Christmas hats.
Also, in celebration of St. Nicholas Day, December 20-21 at the Ukrainian House held a charity “Fair St. Nicholas” with numerous master classes, tastings and jokes.
