US may expand sanctions against Russia because of deals with Iran

The United States can tighten sanctions against the Russian Federation if recognize an agreement between Tehran and Moscow on the supply of goods in exchange for oil contrary to the sanctions imposed against Iran. This was at the briefing announced by US State Department spokesman Jen Psak.

“We are aware of the talks between Russia and Iran, relating to various areas of economic cooperation. We continue to monitor the discussions on further action. We do not have the specific details. If the transaction will be used as part of sanctions, we will act. But we can not do this is an abstract”, – said Psak.

In respect Iran’s petroleum sector operate US and EU sanctions. Under these sanctions fall and the state, which carry out the transaction on the import of Iranian oil. In November, the EU Council extended the suspension of the restrictive measures against Iran before the June 30, 2015. At the same time, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Alexei Ulyukayev said that in the near future plans to begin deliveries of grain and manufactured goods to Iran in exchange for oil.
