According to the results of some recent researches about 32 % of Russians use the Internet. The daily audience of the Network constitutes about the half of users, 8 % of users use the Internet a few times a week, 6 % – few times a month and the last 3 % – not less than once a year.
The main occupation of the Russian Internet users is the information search, which is necessary for their outlook expansion. 41 % of Internet surfers use the Network for this purpose. 38 % of web users need the Internet for communication, 23 % of them have to work online and 12 % use the World Wide Web for studying. It’s astonishing, but only 2 % of poll participants use the Internet for purchasing.
Users at the age from 18 till 24 use the Network basically for communication (46 %), study (27 %) and leisure (19 %) purposes. It’s interesting that elderly people use their computers to obtain the necessary information (80 %), find a main or additional job (30 %) or simply to spend the time (10 %).
Internet communication is provided by the means of e-mail (79 %) and social networks (76 %) today. Only 53 % of users communicate with the help of messengers. 49 % of users prefer forums, 43 %– chats, 28 % –blogs. 29 % of poll participants can’t imagine their everyday life without a computer.
The average daily Internet user is a man (17 %) at the age from 18 till 24 (36 %) , who has a grade and is financially independent (28 and 22 % accordingly).
