Obama: Russia will be isolated until Putin leave Ukraine alone

The President Obama emphasized, speaking at the summit of Big Twenty in Brisbane on Sunday, the sanctions imposed by the West toward Moscow in response to support the rebels in eastern Ukraine, demonstrated their effectiveness. According to Obama, western criticism of the role that Russia plays in the Ukrainian crisis, ready if necessary to increase the pressure on Moscow to urge President Vladimir Putin to cooperate for the sake of the cessation of hostilities near the Russian border.

According to President Obama, Russia will remain isolated from the international community, if the Russian President Vladimir Putin will continue to violate international law and international agreements and will not put a goal to end the conflict in Ukraine.

Speaking on Sunday in Brisbane on closing the economic summit G20, Obama said:

“At the moment we have introduced sanctions which bites hurt”. “We – the president continued, – have left the possibility, and our team constantly have in mind the mechanisms to increase the pressure in case of need”.

Media quoted Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper, said to Putin at the meeting:

“I believe that I would shake hands with you, but I can tell you only one thing:” You need to get out from the Ukraine”.

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott urged Putin to repentance for Malaysian plane shot down, over the eastern Ukraine, controlled by the rebels, and the Prime Minister David Cameron called the Russian leader a “hoodlum”.

Vladimir Putin flew away from Australia earlier than planned, saying that he needed to sleep. However, the Russian leader said that the tensions around Ukraine his early departure is not connected.

Meanwhile, the president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko issued a number of decrees on the closing of public institutions in the pro-Russian eastern Ukraine. This step increases the distance between under the control of separatists Donetsk and Lugansk regions and the rest of Ukraine.

In addition, on Saturday, Russian state television showed pictures designed to prove that the passenger plane MH-17, which crashed  in July over the eastern Ukraine, was shot down by the Ukrainian fighter. Ukrainian sources said that these pictures are fake.

Recall that the Western countries place the responsibility for incident on the pro-Russian separatists.

On Sunday at the crash site, started work on the collection of wreckage of the plane.

According to Poroshenko, crisis management in eastern Ukraine should be done through dialogue with the Russian-backed separatists. However, the president of Ukraine stressed that the Army of Ukraine “willing and able to answer” if the truce is finally torn down.

Putin said he wants to reach a compromise with Ukraine. However, the Kremlin denies sending troops and weapons in the region controlled by the rebels.
